Independent.

To be free of oppression. To master one's self. Independence means to be self reliant. To be able to lead oneself. We parade our flag. White for the purity and innocence of our land and people. Blue for the vigilance perseverance and justice we uphold. Red for hardiness and valour.

Independence is the breaking free of a country from unfair and unjust control, oppression.

Great America.

United we are.

Our flag does not fly because of the wind but because of the breath of every one of our soldiers who have died protecting it.To revert from independence and be taken over is to shame them. To make their death a vain attempt at safeguarding that freedom.

PROLOGUE

"Eva Valencia." The receptionist called.

That's my name.

I'm an escort but then I'm not an escort right? I mean if I establish an actual friendship with my clients I'm not, but then why are they paying for my company?

My phone rings in my handbag sometimes I forget I live in the age where our telephones are cellular and they could ring at any time. I still get scared by the sudden vibration and sound. It’s funny because it’s not like I grew up at a different time.

I'm losing it aren't I?

"Hello?" I answer.

"Eva?" A female voice responds.

"This is she."

"Hey, it's Katie." How I manage to forget people's existence is quite weird.

"Oh hi. What’s up?"

"You have a new client." She says.

"And?" I really don't care

"You need to come to the office like yesterday." She announces.

"I'm on my way." I say.

I never argue with anything to do with work. If it's about my money then it's about my life.

"Ma’am, this way please." The receptionist directs me. But I can't go on with this I have to leave.

"Sorry miss something just came up and I have to go. I'll reschedule for later." I tell her. At least she doesn't press me for details.

"Oh, sure." She says with that practiced business smile.

"Thanks." I say and wink at her. I walk away and get to my car.
