Memorial Day.

A day that used to be all about food and fun.

A day that used to be just another day off.

A day that used to be bright and filled with laughter.

Now I hear is nothing but the sounds of my sorrow.

You say happy Memorial Day and I say bullshit.

Memorial Day.

A day that is now filled with the faces of people I’ll never see again.

A day that is now filled with nothing but tears and memories.

A day that some relive every single day.

So enjoy your bbq’s and days off.

For that’s what so many have fought for.

But please do take a moment and remember those who have given all.

Demons laugh to my face.

As they drag another soul away.

Another man with good intentions,

Desperately tries to find peace within his final resting place.

I can’t help but think of his internal war,

How his demons took control and convinced him to end it all.

But nothing ended but his life.

All his pain and suffering now passed to his family and friends.

Guilt now consumes us all

Making us think that there is more we could have done, more we should have done.

Is there?

Is there anything that we could have done or said to stop the demons from screaming in his head?

Maybe we should have stayed In touch

Maybe w should have asked how he was doing

The demons score another point tonight

As they continue to laugh and wave memories in my head.
