It grieved his heart hers

was gone, but me?

I'd throw mine into the sun

to see her better.

Uncovered

There was a time we felt safe

and the misfortunes of others

were clearly tucked away

Until we saw death and sickness

of strangers turn into family and friends

Until we saw fear and uncertainty

In the eyes of masked faces

Until we learned to love

and truly took the time

to enjoy the presence of

those alive with us

Until we decided to not

take our blessings for granted

I was wrapped in warm, liquid Love

until the Storm came over me

With force I could not fathom

I was taken out to the Unknown

Fearful of the Chaos

surrounding me

In my newness, I clung to the Warmth

that had the faint beat of Home
