Bewilderment
Spires of crimson and gold.
Nothing like I've been told.
Beautiful, stunning, magnificent
Such kindness to my bewilderment.
Danger around every bend.
His words remain in my head.
Are they truly this kind,
Or do they lie with every word said.
I hold onto my mask tight.
A smile for a smile.
Grace and beauty all around,
Secretly they must be vile.
My heart years for the truth,
But trusting them would be uncouth.
I hope they are authentic,
For they are just so majestic.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Their kindness will not last long.
The castle is ever so sublime,
The hate I've been taught seems wrong.
They genuinely love their Queen.
But after everything I've been taught,
Can I possibly know the truth.
Nothing is as I thought.
Spires of crimson and gold.
Nothing like I've been told.
Beautiful, stunning, magnificent
Such kindness to my bewilderment.
