Will You Play Ball?

“Play ball.”

Everyone tells me that

without exclamation,

without explanation.

“Just play ball.”

People add the “just”

In sheer exasperation

with my puzzled condition.

“Ohhh, play ball,”

I say as the light bulb goes on

and I present the perception

that I understand cooperation.
