Morning, Beyond My Window

A mirrored moon rides slowly 'cross the sky

reflected from the lake below the field.

The mystic orb must soon bid us goodbye

and starry skies, upon night's end, must yield.

As ebony of night loosens its grip,

faint silhouettes appear in tones of gray

and bullfrog choruses begins to slip,

replaced by songbirds, heralding the day.

Before the dawn arrives, the growing light

reveals the lake, now wrapped in shrouds of mist

which slowly lift, and taking sluggish flight

climb silky ropes, to fade in sunshine's kiss.

The dawn explodes over the tree-lined hill

in streaming bands of glorious colored rays;

a fleeting glimpse of God's artistic skill

which quickly transforms into sunlit day.

While butterflies and bees take to the air,

the morning flowers, dressed in their veils of dew,

all turn to face the sun without a care

and wave together, 'neath the sky of blue.
