Fired

The only mistake I made

Was thinking I could

Control you like

I thought you controlled me

That the spark I saw

In the depths of your eyes

Was not forever

But a flame in the dark

Although upon second look

If that fire fueled your heart

It was a red flag

That we would drift apart

Made all but certain

By the fact that

My heart deserved more

Than your smoky outline

If appearances won wars

I would bet on you

And I would still lose

That spark was never for me

It was never about me

It was just you living

Never in control at all

And I wreathed in smoke
