My birthday lies three days away

from Halloween's

fond childhood dreams.

It was my favorite holiday;

collecting sweets

with "trick or treat!"

as pirates, witches, ghouls, and ghosts

all scrambled forth

from porch to porch

to see whose bag could hold the most.
