A Curse In The Form Of A Blessing

One day Bee was flying to find another flower when she was swatted at. Scared and infuriated that someone would do such a thing, when she was sure she had eggs coming, she pondered retaliation. She couldn't think of any methods for protection; her mouth and feet were far too small to be of any help in this situation. A higher power noticed this poor Bee and blessed her babies with a stinger. However, this higher power was unhappy because the bee had wanted this protection only after becoming angry. They understood protecting the babies, hence only the females would have the stingers, but the punishment for Bee was that this stinger would be a one-time only thing as using it would be certain death.
