Behind the Veils

The sky is everything

but blue

Blue's what you're

withholding on

in the mind's eye

The one tone

you will not let go of

The one to which

you've pinned

so much

ecstasy and sorrow

Maybe it's your favorite?

I know it's mine

and I reflect

it back

to the Gods

And though

on these grounds

my iris sometimes turn

a russet brown

like in old photographs

It is then I note

that I am truly

taking in

the hymnal of the Stars.
