Are you sure?

The worst nightmares are the nightmares you aren’t sure were dreamt. These nightmares are so realistic, so attached to every day fears and anxieties that they very well could have occurred.

People say that what you think before you fall sleep often times controls your dreams and nightmares. These thoughts can scratch at the corners of the back of your mind, where fears you never knew you had come out to play their horrible games. Their favorite game is called “Misunderstanding.” They come in the form of a test you thought you did well on, but now you hope you didn’t fail. They come as a joke your friend made that you begin to think may have possessed deeper meaning.

The next day, you might think back to that moment, and you cannot remember for the life of you whether or not it was real. These moments are alarming at the very least because the line between appearance and reality slowly fades from memory.
