God, where art thou

In this dark and lonely night

I reach out to you in desperation

But you are nowhere in sight

I call out your name in anguish

But no answer do I hear

I pray for your guidance

But you seem to have disappeared

I search and seek and question

But you remain elusive and vague

Is it my faith that's lacking

Or are you simply not engaged

I know you are meant to be omnipotent

But in my pain and my despair

You seem so far away

Like you don't even care

I want to believe in your love

And your presence in my life

But sometimes it feels like you're nowhere

Leaving me alone in my strife

So I cry out to the heavens

God, where art thou

I long for your embrace

But it feels like you have abandoned me now
