murder in the city

I did not keep my life that night,

Hiding away from prying eye,

Though I did try with all my might.

 Even though I was cowering in fright,

 It was not out of grief that I did cry.

 I did not keep my life that night.

 I felt like I was a string-less kite,

 Despite not getting quite as high;

 Though I did try with all my might.

 I ascended into the mightiest of light.

 I felt free as I soared through the sky.

 I did not keep my life that night.

 My physical form suffered quite a plight.

 My inhales shook with my end nigh,

 Though I did try with all my might.

 On my exhale, I relented, I stopped my fight.

 My heart stopped beating, my blood ran dry.

 I did not keep my life that night,

 Though I did try with all my might.
