The First Day

That first day

You crossed my mind,

In another way-

That for me you've yet to find.

The sky was brighter

Your visage the very sun-

My world felt lighter,

Until for me you felt none.

I still recall

The bliss I felt

After that harsh fall-

That made me melt.

So now I wait

For the first day,

That will come for you too late-

In the worst of ways.

The day when I wake,

But not for your sake.
