Invisible.

A spot turned amorphous splotch

Led to lancing, then chemo.

Melanoma don't die easy.

What the doctor failed to mention

As I signed the waiver

Was that my hypothetical treatment

Tested waters unknown.

Pokes, prods, shots & pills

Killed the splotch alright,

In doing so my frayed DNA

Tilted ever so slightly,

Giving photons free passage

& the nurse quite a fright

As my gown began floating

Where my shoulders once were visible.

Word traveled fast & soon

I was locked in a government box,

But it doesn't take Houdini to escape

When no one can see you.

I bet they still think I'm there.

I frolic unsupervised,

From free concerts to peep shows,

To raping over-privileged nostrils

With ungodly flatulence in

Goldman Sachs' private elevator,

A shadow-less void in a skeptical world.

If I were you I'd lock the doors,

I'm sorry to disappoint.

There's no hero here,

No Robin Hood,

I'm the one who goes bump in the night.
