When I Look Back

When I look back in my memory

I see you in my mind.

Your little body, your pretty face

everything so divine.

When I look back on that day

I had your picture in my hand.

So small then and I still wish 

I could have seen you stand.

When I look back I still remember

when they finally chose our name.

So beautiful it was just like you

it will never be the same.

When I look back I catch a glimpse

of what you could have been.

Playing around in your front yard 

with all of your friends.

But I tell you now my sweet niece

you will never be alone

because God himself will be by your side 

for he has brought you home.

And yes, eleven days, 

is too short of a life.

But while you look down, please smile

because everything is alright.

When I look back all I see

are your precious eyes

and how you used everything you had

for such a little life.

So goodbye once again, we'll see you later on

We love you and we miss you

but in our hearts you'll never be gone.
