Smoke Screens

The vision was clear

At least that’s what I thought

Loving arms, hugging bodies close

I could see it all

It was too unreal

The militia would be here soon

Between visions of passion and love

Under the camp tents

There was something else there

A cloud, or many

The smoke appears

and I’m choking and gasping for air

I can still see, God I think I can still see

Something, anything

But it’s not the same

The vision is not the same

There’s barging

I can hear someone or some people barging in

With a force that not even I could withstand

and so I give in

Hands drawn behind my back with cuffs that I hadn’t the keys too

Who would have thought it would all end with smoke screens
