To Confront Loneliness

The world around me was dark, until the moment it wasn't. Suddenly, I was surrounded by a euphoric scene; a sky of violet, an ocean of turquoise, and a beach of gold. 'Here is my world', I thought. The clouds were pitch black in the violet sky, and when looking into them I could see the abyss that existed deep within my being. This abyss, I created as a hiding place and a place of desolation. Here was my solidarity; the loneliness I hated but was drawn to.

Standing on the shore gold, I reached out and touched the clouds to suddenly feel a deep sense of understanding. This abyss, the abyss I avoided for so long was who I was. It consisted of the unknown fears of myself I could not face. Upon my touch, I entered once again into the darkness I knew so well but feared so much. I was gone.

In the distance I could hear the voice of many calling out to me. Their destination was unknown, but their words were sincere and broken. They were my words. I was broken, and I was beautiful.

An overwhelming pain overcame me in this darkness, but in silence I could not scream nor fight back the built up solidarity. Floating through this dark space, I embraced it and learned more about myself than ever before.
