What Luck?

Oh me boy-o's, tis nothing akin to the luck of the Irish! The wearin' of the green and our very own four-leaf clover. And the Blarney Stone I've kissed many-a-time! I'm as old as the emerald hills themselves and I'm still livin' to tell my Irish tales.

Hold on there partner. I once spied somethin' shiny in the red earth. First I thought it was a bit a gold. Turns out 'twas a shiny penny, newly minted though. I scooped that coin up and dropped it into my holster; so far I never come in second on the draw! Just a shiny penny my Aunt Fanny.

Gentlemen, y'all forgettin' the power of the celestial night sky. Well, one evening while takin' the air on the veranda, I saw the first star poke itself through that dreamy, purply-pewter canvas. I wasted nary a second wishing I may and wishing I might...and sure enough my dream galloped up to my plantation that night!

Cool it people! A man makes his own luck, like I make mine. I never touch a mirror, won't walk under a ladder and black cats avoid me! I won't light up a smoke third on a match. And, for those times I feel I may be unlucky, I've got my 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world. Then, it's me who's asking...do you feel lucky? Ah, they generally don't. That's how it's done! Man...end of discussion!

The moral of these words: Whether you rely on a a talisman, find it in the heavens or create it for yourself: Good or bad, luck is the stuff that makes life life.
