Happy Hope

Books and magic,

Pink dresses and cupcakes,

A fairy wand with glitter,

As you grow it gets forgotten,

Riding your bike with neighborhood kids,

Having sleepovers and spa nights,

Watching movies until you fall asleep,

As you grow you move on,

Brothers cheering,

Mother politely clapping,

Father smiling at your degree,

As you grow you give up,

Fiance laughing,

Roar of cars on the city road outside,

Friends over and wine,

As you grow you remember good times,

Kids driving you crazy,

Mother and father visiting,

Husband and you watching a movie,

As you grow you wish you could start again,

Tears as you know your time is coming,

Tears as you know you can't ask your parents if they were proud,

Hope and smiles as you realize you have done all you can and you must accept,

As you move on you grow,

Watching your kids from above,

Meeting your parents again,

You become wise and know,

That it doesn't matter who else is proud,

If you are proud.
