Admiring Nature

Nature brings me

the most peace.

Fall brings me the least peace.

It brings out a longing in me

not sure for what,

but the weather changes and I become wistful.

It inspires me the most, and

the crisp air chills my bones.

Wearing a jacket and

walking around outside,

admiring the changing leaves

and trying to absorb sunlight,

before it's gone in winter.

The crisp becomes cold.

The sun is gone,

where did it go?

It hides behind the clouds.

Endless clouds.

But snow, snow is peaceful,

and beautiful and,

cold.

It reflects light and brightens up the world at night.

Fat snowflakes come down slowly

and cover up the earth.

Grass is gone, but replaced with pure white powder.

Outside, the world gets quiet,

the cars don't sound so loud,

and no one is out and about taking walks.

I love a good winter afternoon

where it's not too cold,

a little windy,

with big, fat snowflakes falling down gently in front of me

as I walk around the park,

admiring the silence

and the beauty

and how the world just seems so bright.

It's the only thing to look forward to

after December's holidays pass.

And soon the sun starts peeking

and staying out past five.

If I get through the winter blues,

spring comes around the corner.

Coats get exchanged for jackets

which is probably my favorite part.

Snow might try to sneak in,

but it's stay is brief.

The snow melts and when the earth dries up

it's good for walks in the park.

Then the rain arrives, and

stays and

stays and

stays long past its welcome

and creates unpleasant mud.

The rain is peaceful, and

in between thunder and lightning

and endless rain

there is endless beauty.

Nature gets replenished from the cold drought of winter

and the trees start growing leaves.

Some trees start growing delicate pink flowers

and the parks are covered in beauty

to be adored.

The flowers start flowering,

and everything becomes colorful again.

Summer brings so much freedom.

No more jackets

(unless you're staying out past dark

and going to a bonfire)

less rain,

and the sun stays out past eight.

I can drive to the beach

and spend all day in the water

or the sand

and watch the sun go down

reflecting an array of attractive colors

onto the water.

An amazing end to an amazing day.

Or I can stay home and take it easy in the air conditioning, and

when I get restless I can fill my car

turn on my favorite songs

and drive out west

where it's just fields and cows and hills and trees.

I peacefully appreciate the warm hues

against the rural backdrop, and

not worrying as much about traffic

on the country roads.

I just do this til I'm ready to go home

and I turn around

and see it all as the sun passes below the horizon in my rearview mirror.
