muted reality

i close my eyes and see the colors-

red and blue and purple and green and orange and yellow and pink

blooming like flowers, petals extending

bleeding in the sky

washing into the rivers

swirling, combining, separating

and then my eyelashes flutter again

and i am left with

grey
