*****

Too many to think about, but chose three out of this mess:

World Post Day

This is the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, which started in 1874 in Switzerland. The UPU was the start of the global communications revolution, introducing the ability to write letter to others all over the world. World Post Day started in 1969.

… and here I thought it would be about post-it notes.

National Pro-Life Cupcake Day

On this day, cupcakes are baked to honor the lives of those not yet born. The day also raises awareness about the issue of abortion. Cupcakes are a sweet way to get a conversation started on a difficult subject.

Organizers encourage baking cupcakes and giving them to friends, family and even strangers. While not everyone will agree, conversations may be started. Some may prefer not to participate at all, while others still will join in the conversation, even though they disagree.

Cupcakes for Life started this off the wall observance in 2012

National Moldy Cheese Day

Prepare yourself for some spectacular gastronomic delights when you celebrate Moldy Cheese Day. The origins of this intriguing festival are obscure, but what’s clear is that it’s a time to value and cherish moldy cheese in all its wonderful forms.

Tidy minded folk might wish to search their fridge for forgotten morsels of cheese which have now acquired interesting moldy growths, providing the basis for intriguing science projects, and perhaps prompting a through clean-up. Alternatively, why not take a look at the many varieties of cheese which have been purposely exposed to mold in order to give them a mouth-watering flavor and enticing appearance?

Moldy Cheese Day is a chance to take Stilton sandwiches to work or make cheese-on-toast with tasty Gorgonzola. Moldy Cheese Parties are popular option, where every guest should bring a cheesy dish to share and there is the opportunity to indulge in cheese themed party games.

I did manage to find a stray reference or two suggesting this is a "National" day. Hard to believe that the "Big Cheeses" in Washington would declare a national day for moldy cheese. Have you ever known our elected officials to waste time debating worthless topics? (Okay, forget I even asked that question.)

I don’t even care to know why Leif Erickson is celebrated twice on this day!

More Strange Holidays Saturday!
