Specific

Specific—Adjective: clearly defined or identified.

Words hold so much power. I love the word specific,

it denotes a special attention being made to something.

Things we see are so complex,

that when a person looks close enough

the idea of whatever it is

fragments infinitely.

Art, for example, is so subjective

but each instance is specific

to the particular experience

of the person(s) who made it.

And then to the person who sees it.

And the ideas derived by the artist

arrive from a wealth of information

attained by the ears and the eyes of the person

who sees and then specifies it.

Specificity,

defining clearly, carefully

taking the broad world that we see

and making it understandable,

and sometimes it’s very personal,

a “specific sort of feeling”,

that a person who’s well-spoken

might convey perfectly.

Without the categories we tend to use

to (culturally) define our reality

nothing a person could make or do

could ever be revolutionary.
