The Other Holiday You Don’t Hear About

This is going to be an ongoing thing between now and September 30, 2021.

Nothing fancy, no poetry, no stories told, nothing expletive. Just as Jack Webb would say on Dragnet, “Just the facts.”

Each day, you will see a listed holiday. Some strange, some wird, some funny. All different though from the holidays we are most usd to.

So, lt us begin.

October 1st

World Vegetarian Day

International Coffee Day

Children’s Day

Cyprus Intgernational Day

Chuuk Constitution Day

National Day of the People’s Republic of China

Mid-Autumn Festival Day 2

Armed Forces Day

Independence Day

National Day

Mid-Autumn Festival

Elder’s Day

Teachers Day

Independence of Southern British Cameroons from UK

Investiture Ceremony of the Captains Regent 2

German Food Bank Day

Black History Month

National Hair Day

Fire Pup Day

National Homemade Cookies Day

Balloons Around the World Day

********

Now, I Googled three of these:

Fire Pup Day:

National Fire Pup Day on October 1st recognizes the canine firefighters that have long been members of fire departments across the country. While the Dalmation’s origin is unknown, their use in firehouses began during the 1700′s.

National Hair Day

There’s a day to express your love for your hair — National Hair Day on October 1. NuMe, a hair products company,  created this day for people to celebrate hair styling tools and other hair products.

Since ancient times women have been obsessed with their hair. Cleopatra washed hers with donkey’s milk! Today, for many women, hair is high maintenance because how you wear your hair makes a statement about you.  So, color your hair purple with polka dots, braid it,  throw a weave in it or just wear your hair short and flirty.  Today is a day to celebrate your personality as personified by your hair and to explore ways to keep it lustrous and healthy.

International Coffee Day

International Coffee Day is an unofficial holiday with a dual purpose: to celebrate one of the most popular beverages in the world and to raise awareness about sustainable coffee cultivation, as well as fair trade practices in the coffee industry. While some countries have their own holidays to celebrate this amazing beverage, this holiday is observed by most everyone on October 1st.

And for the record, not one of these is a celebration known for in the United States, sucj as Armed Forces Day which is held in South Korea, and Black History Month which is recognized in the United Kingdom.

The only three on this day that would be recognized by the United States are World Vegetarian Day, International Coffee Day, and Internation Day of Older Persons.
