If only...

if only i had but a coin in my pocket,

alas there are none on these streets to find,

i dismiss the hunger lingering in my stomach,

and take one last deep breath in of the bakery,

wanting to tempt my fate for a slice of bread,

a visual of hope,

yet i walk the other way.
