Legos litter the stairs,

carpet, upstairs hallways, the yard.

The vacuum cleaner eats Captain Rex,

my little brother yells at me.

SAT study time comes right after

track practice. Older sister says she's

busy.

Back from school and slinking

into his room and older brother says he's

busy.

Dinner for six.

Where are the brownies?

Can you get the water pitcher?

Where's the salt?

Pass the pepper.

Dishes go to someone else,

and they aren't finished.

Dirty pots and pan litter the

stovetop and "soak."

College beckons the older siblings.

The divided chores are still mine.

I cook and cook and cook.

My little brother plays.

I step on his legos until he's 17.

My hobbies are

"interruptable"

I trip over his socks for years.

I cook and cook and cook.

I've seen this show before.

Re-runs on every channel

My pre-screening is

just a sample from selfish siblings

who ate my free-time for years.

Relentless consumption

that I'll never get back.

femininity and Act 3

came before Act 1
