The struggle is real.

I want to write something beautiful

something that flows like inhaling air

tendrils of words softly spoken

caressing my soul with graceful care

I want to write something magnificent

something grandiose and profound

verses full of analogous metaphors

of poignant depth that resound.

I want to write something memorable

something that engraves on the mind

imagery so striking it leaves

patterned phosphenes behind.

But alas

my talent doesn't stretch that far

so I struggle and I restart

nothing poignant nothing grand

just simple matters of the heart.

I'm frustrated I can't write beyond

those simple matters of the heart.
