After a wedding reception

I observed them walking along together

slowly.

A quiet moment

against the raucous

evening.

Her dress still shimmered

a brilliant turquoise,

but more subtle and

private now in the

moonlight.

His shirt had been

un-tucked somewhere

along the way;

And as he bent

down to take off his shoes

while she steadied him with

her hand,

the effort to impress

breathed a sigh of relief.

He stood up, barefoot

and smiling-

their hands still clasped

And I wonder:

Have I ever been in love

like that before?
