You are a sunset

On a Winter's day

The space around you frigid

Your soul warm

I looked forward to your show

Despite a freezing reality

That you covered

With your sunny brilliance

Still I flew too close

On wax wings I fell

And I learned

That looks can be deceiving

So I stayed far

Hating your presence

Yet loving your colors

And I learned to prefer the cold
