Bias
We ignore so many in history class
Who chose to be bad over good.
And, as a strange young lass,
I always thought that we should
Just take a moment to recognize
Those who wanted to destroy humanity.
They did so much to brutalize
Out of greed, anger, or vanity.
Look at France's Napoleon Bonaparte
Solely known for his vertical disadvantage
Yet, as a man with pride filling his heart,
He sought to give France better standage.
Coalition after coalition with England,
He showed his military prowess with ease
From taking Spain from Ferdinand
To kicking Belgium down on its knees.
One would be shocked to discover
Those that are held highly had a bad side.
There are names where asterisks hover,
Like Churchill, who had secrets to hide.
Yes, he led his country to great success
And crushed the Axis powers in his Wellies.
But, he also planned bombings and conquests
Killing hundreds of innocent German families.
In history, the lines are blurred terribly
Between those that are good and bad.
The reason these people are seen variably
Are because of the people you ask.
Everyone has a story and some bias,
And if you are not informed beforehand,
You could make a judgment that's pious
And perpetuate an age-old plan.
Propaganda and lying and conflict
Runs the world and write every textbook
Which is why some things are explicit
And for others, you really have to look.
For this, I propose wholeheartedly
That we begin to change the way we think
To locate and eradicate the foolhardy
And make the world better in a blink.
