Words with Wings

His words were clipped,

Unlike his wings.

Always straight to the point, with no time for flowery talk

Or needless verbosity.

Unlike his cousin

Who could waffle on for hours

About what she ate for lunch,

Or which holiday poolside she was basking at.

But he,

He just said his thing;

Made his point

Then left,

Knowing that his words would quickly spread

And travel round the world

To stir unrest

Or debate

Or elicit humour.

His words would fly

Like a bird

Chirping to the nations,

The great and not so great.

He tried to use them wisely.

But

Was overwhelmed.
