Jam Jar

Jam Jar

There's mold in the jam jar

I know exactly who did it

You take your butter knife

after buttering toast, buns

bagels, bicuits and cornbread

with all the various crumbs

browned, blackened and burnt

sticking this stuff, sometimes

bits and pieces of bacon or egg

into the beautiful red pristine

jelly or jam with sweet berries jar

There's mold in the jam jar

I know exactly who did it

there it sits and congers up the

long spores of mold all throughout

the unknown jar creating fuzzy

little green and black patches

of mold! No randmother was wrong

about running a large tablespoon

across the top of the jam jar

or even in a little deeper digging

away the fuzzy green and black.

There's mold in the jam jar

I know exactly who did it

The spores travel to the bottom

where they are not seen at all

I am such a pain about putting

a gob into a small bowl or cup

then passing it at the table

when done it goes to the bin

not back into the jar to cook.

Io not wish to receive my

penicillian shot or pill that way

There's mold in the jam jar

I know exactly who did it
