Gratitude. What are you (or your character) thankful for? Write about gratitude. Fiction or non-fiction, poetry or Prose.
Feast Bouquet
My gratitude flows free this morn,
for blessings doth abound;
from grandparents to babies born,
familial love surrounds.
An open ear or warm embrace,
a laugh or helping hand;
we all enjoy the face to face-
and, thus, our souls expand.
I chatter here and banter there,
as children run and play,
all weaving through the heavy air-
a steaming feast bouquet.
At last we're hushed and take our seats
so Leah can say grace;
her tribute to great gram is sweet
and beautifully phrased.
We gorge ourselves and ramble on
as wint'ry shadows sprawl;
their twiggy fingers brush pecan-
our signal to withdraw.
The thankfulness we shared this day
will last the whole year through-
'til next November's vast array
of tantalizing foods.
