Where I belong

My favorite place and time

is right there and then

where and when my left ear rests upon his chest

right above his heart.

Where and when I hear his heart beating

synchronized with my breathing.

His right arm holding me close.

My hands trace every curve of each muscle. They silently speak to him words I often say,

"I love you".

In response I feel his hands whisper back,

"I love you too".

No words spoken

Just our hands speaking in Braille

Solidifying our kindred soul.

It is my favorite place and time

Because then and there I feel loved.

Then and there I feel completely safe,

Where and when I feel safe, I also feel protected.

There is where I forget about everything else in my life

When for a moment time stands still for me

As it literally flies by.

It is my safe haven, my reprieve

Then and there I could stay forever,

Living in my fairytale dream.

Instead I drive away, back to where I live

Back to "hell" as locals call it.

To start the week all over again.
