They drag me along, behind a horse, bound and tied to a small sled that doesn't do much to protect me from the rough ground.
I cringe away from the sun as it comes to view, we're in a field.
The white poppies and sunflowers surround me in color and fill my stomach with warmth like a sip of wine.
The horse stops suddenly, a thud beside my head indicates the rider has stepped off or fallen. Straining to see a black hood is placed over my head roughly. Then I'm dragged up and forced to stand. They unbind me as I sit still, waiting for my chance to bolt. Chilling dread replaces the warmth in my belly. The ground is unimaginably soft underneath my calloused feet. The rough rope left blisters on my wrists that I rub tentatively. The hood is ripped off my head, the blinding light fills my eyes with burning lava. I close them and try to open them slowly.
When I do I'm met with the most beautiful sight. White poppies, sunflowers, roses, and the most beautiful sights fill my vision, spinning, the field seems endless. The thudding of the horse as it runs away doesn't so much as phase me.
I collapse in the soft bed of flowers and close my eyes against the sweet warmth of the sun. But a thudding scares me to stand up.
A creature, double the size of a horse with claws as large as bears is moving towards me, its red beady eyes set on my tan form. A dark mountain against the green lush backdrop. Its mouth opens into a cavern of teeth longer than my torso, each one dripping green saliva. Blood is splattered on its serpenty hide, gleaming like Death's scythe.
My body is still, I'm petrified.
The creature stops, it's slitted nose inches from mine. It slowly opens it jaws that span the length of my entire form. I watch the creature as it's jaws snap down.
The last thing I see is the rows upon rows of teeth as they close around me.
