Challenge
Write a story from the perspective of an old lady whose cat just died... but don't mention the cat.
I may have stolen this from a book... You aren't allowed to mention the cat, or any thing/animal dying. A extra challenge is if someone reads it and has no idea about the challenge, it makes perfect sense.

The Clock Ticks

The clock ticks

Brought her comfort

As she dried her eyes.

She knew it was time to go

To the shops

And leave the silence of this room

With only

The clock ticks

To remind her

Of the passing

Of time

And love

Friendship and comfort.

With warmth abandoning her

Save now for the warmth of the fire.

She feared going out

With no special love

Now

To come home to.

But she has to eat

Though now she will buy for one.

And so

Edna

Aged 76

Leaves her room.

As she closes the door

In the silence

The clock ticks.
