Baby Burp’s Victory
There once was little a froggie, bright grassy green
He had big brown eyes, and a perfectly round tummy
Everyday, he spent out by the lake
Hop, splash, hop, splash
Was all Baby Burp did with his family
Daddy Grime, Mommy Slime and Sissy Spots
Would all get together
For breakfast, lunch and dinner
Daddy Grime had the longest, pinkest tongue
In all of Woodland Meade
Big, fat juicy grasshoppers
Were his favorite meal!
But try as hard, as hard as he could
Baby Burp just couldn't trap
What Daddy Grime feasted on with ease
For bouncy,bouncy grasshoppers
Hopped, hopped away, at top speed
Mommy Slime preferred to dine
On squiggly curly worms
She'd jump onto wet brown mud
And slurp her yummy bounty
But try as hard, as hard as he could
Baby Burp just couldn't jump as fast as mommy
From the pond to the ground before the worms
Squiggled and wriggled back into their holes
Sissy Spots loved lots and lots
Of tiny, crunchy flies
She'd catch not one, not two, not three
But mouthfuls every time
But try as hard, as hard as he could
Baby Burp just couldn't catch
Even a single fly that soared the skies
They'd buzz and buzz and buzz away
In circles and loop-dee-loops
Leaving poor Baby Burp dizzy
And very, very hungry indeed!
Daddy Grime, Mommy Slime and Sissy Spots
Cheered loud for Baby Burp
To catch a bug to fill his tummy
Baby Burp didn't give up
He tried and tried
Until---
He felt a huge dragonfly
Caught in his slippery pink tongue
Yum Yum!
Baby Burp gulped his meal in a jiffy
And sat down to digest
The dragonfly that was bigger than him
Sissy Spots cheered louder than ever
"You've done it!!! You've done it!!"
Mommy Slime kissed his froggy cheeks
Baby Burp smiled with glee
Daddy Grime thumped him on the back with pride
"BBUUUUURRRRPP" belched Baby Burp
Mommy Slime chided, "You mustn't burp so loud, Baby, do display you manners!"
Baby Burp giggled and said "I'm sorry"
"That's my boy" she said
And so did Daddy
Little Baby Burp and his family
Went back home happily
Mommy Slime tucked him in
"Goodnight Baby Burp, Sweet Dreams"
Baby Burp dreamt of big, juicy dragonflies
And his delightful victory.
Don't ever give up little ones,
And you'll achieve your dreams
