Weather under the feeling
Father's day is coming. Seasons are changing. Does it rain when you are sad? Rumbling skies when you are mad? This month's challenge is to write something that makes use of emotions, the skies and everything around you. Feel free to write about your take on how emotions make the world seem different, vice versa, or even how the heavens seem to answer our inner worries in the most mysterious ways. Free verse is appreciated, but extra credit should go to those who delve into the poetic structures of stricter lyrical stanzas. Get to work, and happy writing!

Weather when you were gone

Middle of summer, change of school

Stranger faces, I’m no fool.

Guy comes up, asks my name,

I flush and stutter, oh what a shame.

The hallway’s laughing, I hide my face

Looking for a quieter place.

Pitter patter pitter patter.

I feel my head’s about to shatter.

The voices fade, the droplets take over;

Approaching a window the footsteps get slower.

I press a hand onto the glass,

In it I see a crying lass.

Suddenly, I hear a sound,

Pitter pattering from the ground.

Something's behind me so I turn around.

I meet a sight that leaves me dumbfound.

You were supposed to have flown away;

To Amherst, in July, I even remembered the day.

Yet there you were, with lips slightly curled,

Saying the perfect thing in the whole wide world.

Now more tears are flowing down my cheeks,

But there is no more sadness behind those streaks.

Outside, a rainbow gives a shrug,

Looking on as we finally hug.
