Drowning
Can't breathe
Darkness is closing in
I fight to escape and yet
Breaking free seems impossible
Closing my eyes only
Brings more haunting images
Unable to erase from my brain
Walls are collapsing
Much like my fragile barriers
I reach out but there's
Nothing to hold onto
No one there to save me
Rescue can only come
From deep within me
And yet I don't know if
The strength remains anymore
I struggle to remain,
To stave off the hopelessness
Desperately grasping to
Hold onto that last sliver
Of hope
