Happiness

The way you look as you fall in love, or maybe as you fall asleep (Because who knows the difference?) is happiness. Wide, shining eyes, shimmering with tears as you hold the child; long, deep inhales of air as you rest your eyes and your mind from the woes of the day; the way you fall in love with the curve of those tiny lips and the minuscule fingernails and the soft, oh, so soft, skin of the child in your arms. That’s what happiness looks like, and there’s no one that can take it away from you.
