Mock Song
Here's another thing I love to do that I often feel is severely underrated: parodies! Weird Al anyone? Well, whatever the case. Take a song and change the lyrics, doesn't have to be a parody specifically, just your alternative lyrics to the same song. Word usage and placement should be at least 30% different from the original song. Any length, any genre. Please add the name of the original song and artist at the end. I'll post a sample. One rule: have fun :) Tag me in a comment if you want a reaction.

Brice Springstone - Made in the USA

MADE IN THE USA

NOTICE ME

DARLING OF THE COUNTY

STALLED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY

THROBBING PAIN

I’M SO TIRED

SURRENDER

BOBBY JEAN

I’M GONNA DROWN

GLORY FADES

SLEEPING IN THE PARK

YOU’RE ALONE NOW

MADE IN THE USA

I used to work at a factory in town

I was there everyday until they shut it down

All our jobs got shipped to another place

I remember when we were all proud to say

It’s made in the USA, made in the USA

made in the USA, made in the USA

The company wants to save a buck or two

and now were waiting in a line with nothing to do

We made this country great with our own two hands

Now it’s hard for us to understand things were

It’s made in the USA, made in the USA

made in the USA, made in the USA

They tried to get us back on our feet

but flippin burgers doesn’t make ends meet

That’s the day that we got the news

That it didn’t matter that we paid our dues

It’s made in the USA, made in the USA

made in the USA, made in the USA

NOTICE ME

The seems harder to get the signal through

I just don’t know what I gotta do to make you

Notice me, come on baby, notice me

Well I’m just waiting for someone who will come on in and notice me

I can’t wait baby until you find me

I can leave all this heartache behind me

Notice me, come on over and notice me

Well I’m just waiting here for someone who will come and notice me

Outside’s it’s cold, but inside is colder

Maybe I get you if I was a little bolder

Turn out the light, hit the floor

I ain’t going out seeking trouble any more

It seems like everyone is on ignore

I just don’t know why I try anymore

Notice me, come on over and notice me

Well I’m just waiting here for someone who will come and notice me

I’m just waiting for someone who will come on in and notice me

DARLING OF THE COUNTY

You know she was the darling of the county

I tried to pick her up on the 4th of July

You know she was the darling of the county

I should have known I shouldn’t even try

All the guys want to take her out

She gets all the attention and she knows how to play the game

I should have known that I didn’t stand a chance

Lived here all my life and she doesn’t know my name

I might as well be 800 miles away now

I should be getting that thought out of my mind and how

Sha la la

Sha la la la la

Sha la la la la la la, hey eh

Sha la la

Sha la la la la

Sha la la la la la la

Hey little girl standing on the corner

Do you think that you could get her off my mind?

I’ve been shot down and I need a little help now

And you’re the right kind of distraction I should find

Girl you’re not looking at much of a big spender

But maybe you can think of something we might do

I know that you can lift my spirits a little higher

A kiss and a smile will help me make it through

Come on baby, climb into the front seat

It’s a long night so let’s cruise on down the street

Just me and you, we could

Sha la la

Sha la la la la

Sha la la la la la la

Sha la la

Sha la la la la

Sha la la la la la la

Little girl sitting in the window

It’s no use I can’t seem to let her go

Everybody is telling me the same thing

I’m not the kind of guy she wants and I should know

Little girl you’re so young and pretty

but maybe we should just call it a day

I know that you’ve tried your best now

But I don’t see any other way

You know she was the darling of the county

Every guy tries to chase her down the road

You know she was the darling of the county

At least that what I’ve always been told

STALLED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY

I went to take a road trip Friday after work

Tired of the hassles messing with the jerks

Needed a vacation from the stress and the grind

Roll the windows down leave my troubles all behind

We were cruising pretty fast down on ninety five

Until the engine light came on and we sputtered down the line

I should have had it checked out but I didn’t have the time

Now all I have to do is watch while the traffic pass me by

Stalled out on the highway waiting for the tow truck

Stalled out on the highway, man, I’m down on my luck

Stalled out on the highway, dont you know that this sucks

Stalled out on the highway, Stalled out on the highway

I met her in the produce section at the grocery store

We got along good and she said she wanted more

So I took her for the weekend and she said it was alright

Now we’re on the side of the highway stuck for the night

Stalled out on the highway waiting for the tow truck

Stalled out on the highway, man, I’m down on my luck

Stalled out on the highway, dont you know that this sucks

Stalled out on the highway, Stalled out on the highway

So we were sitting in the car with nothing much to do

She said when we got back that she and I were through

I didn’t get a chance to make it up to her that day

I guess I took my chances and I flushed it all away

Stalled out on the highway waiting for the tow truck

Stalled out on the highway, man, I’m down on my luck

Stalled out on the highway, dont you know that this sucks

Stalled out on the highway, Stalled out on the highway

THROBBING PAIN

I had some cash, I had some time

I was looking for somewhere I could spend my dime

I got jacked up down at Joe’s grill and bar

Then I left drunk with the keys to my car

Now I’m trying to drive down the highway

swirving in the pouring rain

and I feel like I could throw up with this throbbing pain

bartender said, “Joe you gotta go”

“You’ve had too much you don’t need to drink no more”

They called me a cab tried to get me a ride

But I told them I could make it outside

Now I’m trying to drive down the highway

swirving in the pouring rain

and I feel like I could throw up with this throbbing pain

Last night I heard a voice

I was crying, I was so alone

Couldn’t think straight, thought I was driving

There was no way I could have known

I hit a tree somewhere in the woods

My car was about to explode

Someone pulled me out barely in time

I didn’t know that I could have died

and I tried to drive down the highway

swirving in the pouring rain

and I feel like I could throw up with this throbbing pain

I’M SO TIRED

Hey now baby is your daddy home

Does he know how much you like to roam

I got no desire

oh I’m so tired

Tell me now baby is it good for you

to keep me up now doing those things you do

I can’t take you higher

oh I’m so tired

Sometimes it feels like someone took a knife baby edgy and dull

and stuck it into my heart and made it bleed so

Late at night I stay up cause I can’t get to sleep

when I thought I was falling in a love so deep

But I got no desire

oh I’m so tired

SURRENDER

Well, we were bored in class

Couldn’t get away from those rules

I wish we paid more attention back then baby

We might have learned something in school

But at night we would follow our restless hearts

The excitment began to build

Our bodies move closer and you just close your eyes

and our minds begin to yeild

Well, we made a promise we swore we’d always remember

You were the one, baby I’d surrender

Falling in love in the heat of the night

With nothing to lose

You were the one, baby I’d surrender

Well, now young faces are growing old

Cruelty of life shows it’s face

We swore that we would fight against the wind

And we’d never give up the race

There’s a voice that’s calling us home

Across the open years

And I still hold you now like I held you back then

Shielding you from your fears

Well, we made a promise we swore we’d always remember

You were the one, baby I’d surrender

Falling in love in the heat of the night

With nothing to lose

You were the one, baby I’d surrender

BOBBY JEAN

Well, I came to your house the other day

They was nothing that I could say

They said there was nothing that I could have done

To make this turn out any other way

Me and you, we’ve known each other ever since we were sixteen

I wished I could have known

That was the last time I would see you

I would have said goodbye, Bobby Jean

Now, you and me were unlike all the others

They looked at us like we had the plague

We were so different they didn’t want to hang around us

We knew somehow that we weren’t the same

I wish somehow I could have seen

Now I wished you would have told me

I wished I could have talked to you

So I could say goodbye, Bobby Jean

Now, we went walking in the rain,

Talking about the pain that from the world we hid

Now there ain’t nobody, nowhere, nohow

Gonna ever understand me the way you did

I hope that somehow, someway that your happier

You left me walking on this road alone

In some motel room there’ll be a radio playing

but you’ll never hear me sing this song

Still I hope you know somehow I’m thinking of you

And all the miles in between

And wish I could call you one last time

To change your mind and to say I miss you, baby

Goodbye, goodbye, Bobby Jean

I’M GONNA DROWN

We sit in the car outside your house

Can’t believe that you’re here sitting with me

I go to put my arm around you

and I imagine this is the way that it should be

Well you go to kiss me long and deep

And girl when I look into your eyes

Drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

We get dressed up and we go out, baby, for the night

You want to stay out, out, out until the early morning light

I know how you love to wear me out yeah

wearing me out just to watch-a watch-a watch-a me drown

Drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown, hey now

I pull you close now baby when we kiss I can feel a spark

And I don’t want to stop once we start

Your kisses always turn me inside out

You make me feel like

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

I’m goin drown, drown, drown, drown

GLORY FADES

I remember these real mean guys back in high school

They used to pick on me bad, man they were cruel

At a roadside bar I ran into one of those guys

I was walking in and he was walking out

We went back inside and had a few drinks

But all he kept talking about

Glory Fades

Yeah, it has to die

Glory Fades

As much as a young girl cries

Glory Fades

Glory Fades

There was this girl I use to pine for who married this rich guy instead

But he mostly left her alone and sometimes she wished she were dead

She thought that having all that money

would solve all her problems in life

Now when she starts to cry and thinks about it

All she keeps thinking about is

Glory Fades

Yeah, it has to die

Glory Fades

As much as a young girl cries

Glory Fades

Glory Fades

Tonight I’m going to go out and search for the glory

of those days gone by

Everybody’s living in the past

like they already died

Sometimes you just gotta look back

When you were young and free

But to live like your best day’s behind you

Is no way to be

SLEEPING IN THE PARK

I get up in the morning

And I ain’t got nothing to do

I’m walking in the evening

And I hope I’m not catching the flu

I ain’t nothing but tired

Man, I just tired of walking around

Hey there baby,

Don’t you hear that sound

Chorus:

I can’t start a fire

I can’t start a fire without a spark

So I’m freezing my butt off

While I’m sleeping in the Park

Message keeps getting clearer

I need to be doing something else

But I don’t have no options

But at least I’ve got a pulse

Man, I ain’t getting nowhere I’m just living a life like this

There’s something better out somewhere

Baby, I just know that there is

Chorus:

I can’t start a fire

I can’t start a fire without a spark

So I’m freezing my butt off

While I’m sleeping in the Park

You sit around pointing fingers

Someone’s to blame and it’s on me

I carry this world on my shoulders

Come on baby the blame’s on me

Stay on the streets of this town

And they’ll be carving you up all right

They say you gotta keep watchin’

Cause baby, they wanna be starting a fight

Their looking for some action

and you know that it’s gonna hurt

Man, where’s the compassion

Their kicking up the dirt

Chorus:

I can’t start a fire

I can’t start a fire without a spark

So I’m freezing my butt off

While I’m sleeping in the Park

YOU’RE ALONE NOW

She was eight years old and running with a doll in her hand

They snatched her up and kept her back from her old man

When her mom had died he started to drink and everyone knew in town

They hauled him off and when she took a good look around

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

For 65 years he’d been with the love of his life

Down through the years they made it through tears and strife

She had a heart, it was attacked and then it worked no more

He didn’t know what he should do troubled times came on

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

Now when you walk down main street you get vacant stares

And you wonder if there’s anybody who cares

He ended up in the nursing home next to the railroad tracks

His children came to visit once but they ain’t coming back

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

You’re alone now

Last night my girl kicked me out I slept in my car

I thought about getting out and driving far

to a place where no one knows and maybe I could start again

I looked around in times like this you need a friend

but I’m alone now

I’m alone now

I’m alone now

I’m alone now
