See me through

the windowpane

my breath

fogs the glass

Watch my fingers

curl up and

watch me

breathe my last

Trapped behind

these wicked walls

with ivy

growing high

They smother and

they strangle and

they swallow up

my cries

I cannot see

you or

the world

beyond this place

But I can feel the

sunlight through

the darkness

on my face
