Smile

Even when I want to cry

especially when I‘d like to die

although the world seems ugly

and people are unkind;

when walking down the street

shopping in a store

lifting weights at the gym

listening to a boor.

Even when my burdens are heavy

my joys seem few

anxiety stirs

melacholy, too;

I smile and laugh

and grin and say

I am feeling wonderful

today.

It doesn’t always work

sometimes the tears do fall

but I fight to smile another day

for attitude is all.
