So everyone's heard of dance like no one is watching, same thing but with writing. You'll have to really pretend because everyone will read it. That's the challenge, write so free, so true, like no one will ever see it. Poetry, prose, or confessions..whatever you feel is what you should do.
Devastating Secret
Keeping it together with a smile on her face
She doesn’t just meet expectations
She exceeds them
She doesn’t just raise the bar
She sets it
It isn’t even hard
But even those closest to her can’t tell
They don’t know
How alone she is
Maybe because it’s those closest to her
Who say she means the most to them
But never consider how she feels
Are too busy to lend a hand
Take her for granted
Make light of the things that matter the most to her
Worst of all those who promised forever
The same ones who hurt her the most
How could she have known that forever
Would be so empty
Every day I look her in the eye
She appears so happy
But I’m the only one who knows
This heartbreaking secret
