A Better Me

A remembered vibration

Modern echolocation.

My own find my phone

of a distorted ringtone.

Summoned by a notification,

of a perfect stranger's celebration.

I take a picture, show off a smile,

post it and pretend that's me for a while.

Without any dishonesty,

I think, "That's a better me."

The one in my handheld,

where all ideals are upheld.

Where I choose the actions,

and senseless distractions.

Idle time cannot chew me,

when my phone does its duty.

My constant companion,

the anti-social champion.

For my self floats out there,

Blissfully unaware.

Of the truths of identiy,

The smells, the reality.

Embodied existence no problem,

I hold my surrogate, my modem.

My useful addiction walks always with me,

What I live it lives. What I see, it sees.

It has become an extension,

my best tool of impression.
