No Pictures, Please!

Some Native Americans still believe

in soul-theft through photography

I’ve wondered if pictures can fragment the soul,

could this be a means of losing control?

Could the selfie-obsessed open doors to dark worlds?

Or does one simply seek to over-indulge,

in things that are selfish, in things that are reckless,

in things that are wrong, deceitful and senseless?

Maybe we shouldn’t dismiss this belief?

I don’t mean to cause anyone any grief,

but our ancestors knew things we can’t even fathom.

Maybe because they were closer to Adam,

or maybe because they were simply attuned

to the things of the spirit, the things we outgrew,

the things we keep thinking are in the rearview.

Where are the curious and seekers of Truth?

Where are the brave and unsatisfied youth?

Where are the elders who still want to fight

to bring forth the answers occulted from sight?

We all have more power than we have been told,

we receive what we believe in mind and soul.

Our emotions and words create our reality,

and all is dependent upon our energy.

Keep your thoughts pure to manifest love,

Peace, joy, harmony, good things from above.
