When I Find My Voice

I was watching America's Got Talent and when people sing on that show, they usually sing a certain type of song. So I got to thinking and I wrote the following anthem that I think would be perfect for someone who would appear on that show to sing.

WHEN I FIND MY VOICE

There was a time

I kept to myself

like a dusty old book

gathering dust on the shelf

I kept my passion inside me

and I nodded my head

I didn't speak out

what needed be said

I did all the things

I needed to do

Something started to burn

inside me that's true

I could no longer deny

That I had the right

to speak up for myself

and to join in the fight

When I find my voice

I'll shout it out loud

I'll make myself heard

above the noise of the crowd

and those that have doubt

they'll finally see

That I have the strength

Deep inside of me

And when that day comes

when I risk my heart

I can't be afraid

of it tearing apart

I will be sure

because I'll know the way

I'll make it all right

with the things that I say
