Gods

You were a god,

And I was a god,

We were both gods together.

You made the sun

And I made the clouds,

And then we made the weather.

The land was next

And then came the plants

And at long last came the water.

Next came creatures

And all of the people,

The parents, the sons and the daughters.

You were in love

and I was in love,

At first with each other.

But you started to stray

And you looked at me one day

And confessed there was another.

You left me

To go and be,

With a mortal man.

You traveled down,

To some strange town

On that cursed land.

But time flies by

And mortals die,

And oh, How your heart broke.

I had wished from your pain

I would gain

But I know now that I misspoke.

You were a god,

And I was a god,

And we were both gods together.

But even the greatest

Things of all,

Do not last forever.

So I took my pride,

And I took my sorrow,

And I gifted you mortality.

And you died in time,

You lost your memory,

And you never once missed me.

You joined your love in the afterlife

With welcoming arms,

The ones I used to hold.

And watching you,

Even though I'm ageless,

I feel dreadfully old.
