Underwater

I am drowning in a sea of people.

Watery faces drift before me,

trying to wake me from this reverie.

They are nothing more than fish meandering by,

mouths gaping open and shut

open and shut

and all I see are the bubbles of air

drifting from their lips.

soundless, meaningless.
